Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan has called on SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to restrict Starlink satellite internet access for organized crime groups operating across Southeast Asia. These syndicates, based in Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand, reportedly use Starlink to facilitate large-scale fraud operations targeting Americans.

UN reports indicate these criminal networks traffic victims into forced labor camps where they're coerced into running phishing schemes, fake investment platforms, and romance scams. The operations have already bilked U.S. citizens out of billions.

Hassan's letter emphasizes SpaceX's existing terms of service allow termination for illegal activities. The appeal comes as global concern grows about satellite internet enabling transnational cybercrime.
